Government Inspection of Supplies for Government Contractors- Per FAR 52.246-2

Summary

There are strict regulatory standards in place for government contractors supplying product to the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), one of the largest contract spenders in the world. More contracts are requiring government source inspection (GSI) during the manufacturing process to ensure consistent levels of quality and uniformity are being upheld in the product being supplied to the federal government.

Non-compliance comes with significant risk, including:

  • Charges for supplies that are not ready at the specified inspection time (52.246-2-e1)
  • Charges for additional testing in the case of rejection (52.246-2-e2)
  • Charges or equitable value reduction for failing to promptly correct rejected nonconforming supplies in the prescribed time range (52.246-2-h)
  • Contract value reduction or termination for failure to comply with requests to remove, replace or correct supply issues discovered during inspection. (52.246-2-h)
  • Repayment of equitable portions of the contract if replacement or correction is declined. (52.246-2-l)
  • DCMA Corrective Action Reports
  • Late delivery

So, compliance is a top priority. How do you know if your organization is compliant prior to inspection?

THE DOD CONTRACTOR TRAINING DIFFERENCE

While there is a wealth of available and free government contracting information available, most are not clear on how to stay in compliance with your specific contract regulations and requirements. DOD Contractor Training's curriculum breaks down the complex subjects of government contracting and quality training, making it process-friendly for your whole staff and giving participants the knowledge and “know how” to fully interpret what the government is actually asking for in terms of contract and inspection requirements.

WHAT YOU’LL LEARN

  • How to prepare for a government source inspection
  • How to avoid additional charges for re-inspection
  • How to schedule a government source inspection
  • How to handle rejection of inspection
  • How to bring compliance up to the desired levels within the given time frame
  • How to manage your relationship with the local DCMA office and create successful inspection presentations

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

  • Your contracts frequently have GSI provisions.
  • Your contracts are designated Origin under Pricing Terms.
  • Your contracts specify government source inspection clause FAR 52.246-2.
  • You want independence from third parties.
  • You want to build quality, safety and oversight into all policies and procedures.

WHAT TO EXPECT

During the course, you will gain the ability to create and process inspection reports. Take your product through the quality process required for inspection according to FAR 52-246-2 and FAR 52-246-11. You will be walked through the process of building and integrating strict recordkeeping and oversight into your work processes and contacting your local QAR representative in a timely manner. As part of the course, MIL standard 3010 quality assurance and MIL standard 2073 packaging will be covered as needed for GSI inspection. By the end of the course, you will learn how to quickly interpret and understand requirements, and learn the skills needed to comply with the military requirements cited in each solicitation and contract.
